Greetings. I am an MEA member and joined the IGS last summer after the MEA Conference in June, paying the reduced rate offered to MEA members. Would somebody please tell me when existing members are supposed to renew their memberships. Is membership on a calendar year basis, or does it date from when one joined? My ETC journals stopped coming long ago and I don't think I've received one this year, so that seems to suggest calendar year membership.

Another problem is that I have tried to use the online renewal process, but it is so inflexible that I cannot change the $50 renewal amount to the $25 that it is supposed to be for MEA members. The online renewal screen also tries to force me to use Paypal, which I will not use because one cannot modify the $50 renewal to $25. Would somebody please tell me what to do so that I can renew and start receiving the journal again.

I suggest that the renewal process needs to be better explained on the IGS website and the membership renewal amounts adjusted to reflect the reduced rate for MEA members. Thank you..........Alex Kuskis

I asked Judy in the main office to follow up, since Alex should have been receiving journals. Alex, please let me know by email whether you've heard anything or not.

Sorry Lance, but no - my originals questions about membership remain unanswered. I have no idea whether it is up to individual members to renew on a calendar year basis to keep journals coming. Second, how do I work the online payment system when it doesn't allow payment of the reduced fee for MEA members? I would pay the full fee if I could benefit from the conferences, but I cannot afford to travel to NYC for such conferences, so the journal is likely to be my only point of contact with the IGS...........Alex Kuskis (Sorry for my slow response, but I've been away on vacation).
