Friday evening, October 28th, 2011, author and Abby Rockefeller Mauze Professor of the Social Studies of Science and Technology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sherry Turkle will deliver the 59th Alfred Korzybski Memorial Lecture, lecture title “Alone Together: Why We Expect More from Technology and Less from Each Other,” at The Princeton Club in New York City.  The lecture will be preceded by a dinner at The Princeton Club.

Saturday and Sunday, October 29-30, 2011, The Princeton Club will host a symposium titled “Communicating in the 21st Century” sponsored by the Institute of General Semantics. The symposium, which will be held on Saturday and Sunday, will feature panel presentations. On Sunday there will also be a roundtable discussion on the future of general semantics.

Sherry Turkle is the Abby Rockefeller Mauze Professor of the Social Studies of Science and Technology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the author of Alone Together: Why We Expect More from Technology and Less from Each Other, a very popular recently published book on why we expect more from technology and less from each other.
